Wildlife at Stow Maries

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is famed for its broad range of raptors and rare visitors.

We have been lucky enough to secure funding for a great project - Nature: Near and Now.

This project is focused on widening the access to our amazing wildlife and landscape. It has been very kindly supported by a grant from the New Stories New Audiences Scheme, administered by the Association of Independent Museums and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund . We are very grateful to them both, and to all of you Lottery players!

Big thanks to our Wildlife partner, the amazing Wildlife Kate. We are very proud to have her working with us on our brilliant cameras! Have a look at our  Kestrel-Cam and Owl-Cam below!! (Just press 'play' on the top left of the screen when you click on the link).

The site is home to different species of native owl and the BBC and Channel 5 have featured the owls of Stow Maries in many of their programmes.

Why not check out the wonderful Secret Life of Owls on 5Select ?

We are hoping to open up more of our landscape to our visitors.

We are very keen to recruit an ecology and landscape Trustee, to drive this - is it you? Please get in touch on info@stowmaries.org.uk for more details.

We are also hoping to re-introduce our successful Hide Photography Sessions, which are ideal for watching and photographing garden birds from our woodland hide.

These will be added to our events programme on an ongoing basis, please check to secure your place Event Bookings.

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome gratefully and thankfully acknowledges the hard work, time and equipment donated (at no cost to the Aerodrome) by Kate MacRae and Hipoint Visual Ltd, without whom, most of this would not be possible.

We Continue to Battle On! - Ian Flint, Chief Executive

Hello everyone. I need to apologise. I have been remiss in the writing of my blog. I post regularly on Twitter, LinkedIn and all that, but this task has escaped me. So, big apologies for that....
