Late Summer Fly-in Offers a Discounted Day Out for Pilots and a Great Opportunity for Light Aircraft Spotting

Twice a year, Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome offers a special deal for the aviation community, with a discount on regular prices and a chance to meet up with their fellow light aircraft enthusiasts. The next event, the Late Summer Fly-In on Saturday 26 September, could see up to 50 light aircraft landing at the accredited museum and World War One aerodrome in Essex.

Visitors to the museum are always welcome to arrive by air, but there is normally a £15 landing fee, in addition to the regular admission price of £12. At the Late Summer Fly-In, however, pilots can enjoy a one-off discounted price of just £10 that covers both their landing fee and their full admission – that's a 63% discount! Any passengers arriving by air also enjoy a discount, with admission at the concessionary rate of £9. For those not lucky enough to be able to arrive by light aircraft, Saturday 26 September is still a very special day to visit the best-preserved World War One aerodrome in the country. Small aircraft will be coming in to land and taking off again throughout the day, adding an extra special dimension to exploring this fascinating location where the Royal Flying Corps once defended the nation against Zeppelins and Gotha bombers.

While the Late Summer Fly-In is the last air event of the year, there is still plenty to see on the ground. On Friday 9 October, the Museum is running a full-day event focusing on World War One history and aviation subjects. Frontline: Faces and Spaces features three guest speakers, object handling, museum tours and a splendid lunch in The Airmen's Mess café. And on non-event days, Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, Hackman's Lane, Purleigh CM3 6RN is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm, until 6 December (except Friday 9 October), with fascinating exhibition halls, historic aircraft, interactive flight simulators, pedal planes and more, to keep every member of the family happy.For further details and online booking, visit www.stowmaries.org.uk.
