A Historical Hammerings experience is an ideal gift for birthdays, Father’s Day, a retirement or anniversary present.
In this world-renown heritage site, you will join our time-served Master Smith, Mr Peter Trick, as he takes you from your first use of a genuine Great War Forge to the production of your own item to take away. A great teacher, Peter will share the secrets of this mysterious and magical art at your pace, gently leading you in the development of your skills.
Arriving at 9am at the Aerodrome not far outside Chelmsford, you will be given your own protective equipment to wear. You will have a thrilling morning in our period forge before breaking for your hot lunch – all included. You will then return to your forge to finish your item to take away as a functioning memento of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. You will be finished between 4 and 5pm, depending on how you master your skills!
To make sure you get the best experience the day is exclusively for two participants only - so your teaching is really personal.
Students should dress robustly, with warm clothing and stout boots – no trainers.
Free parking is on site. No experience necessary. Items will be selected from a predetermined list. Over 16s only, under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Dogs not permitted to accompany owners with the exception of assistance dogs.
