Stow Maries: Family Nature Day

  • Sun 27 Jul 2025

  • 10AM - 3PM

A chance to enjoy spend quality time in our amazing Wildlife Conservation Zones, enjoying a different side to our historical site.

Not just a museum. Not just an aerodrome.

For decades, Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome was largely undisturbed by the passage of any intruders except the resident farmer, his workers and time.

This means that a thriving and diverse range of flora and fauna has had time to settle in and make themselves comfortable!

Even now, with the site a bustling hive of activity, the Charity takes the care and conservation of its ecology very seriously indeed - as a member of the Natural England Stewardships Scheme and as a Conservation Zone.

Now, you have a chance to join us and enjoy it!

For the first time ever, Stow is offering visitors a day dedicated to exploring the natural wonders of our site together with our Wildlife Guide team.

We aim to have something for everyone.

  • Just starting to be interested in nature birds?
  • Want to learn more about different habitats?
  • Maybe just fancy a nature ramble with the kids?

We will have guided walks, hide sessions for kids & adults (don't worry - we have some binoculars for you to borrow! ) and trips to our ponds.

Every Summer Spring, Stow’s hedgerows, woods and fields come alive with butterflies and bugs.

It’s the perfect time to come on a guided walk and enjoy the bounty and buzz of summer. the birds of spring. We will help you to learn how to identify common butterfly species and tell you their wonderful life storiesby their song. You’ll be amazed by just how many different species you can find are around you. You'll spend at least 90 minutes with the wildlife team in our Conservation areas, with plenty of time left to explore other facets of the day - including handling sessions, and hearing more about our rare and endangered species.

All you need to do is book your tickets and make yourself know at the Welcome Area after parking and we'll be ready to go!

All this, included as part of your usual admission fee - so you can enjoy the museum galleries, historical tour and Airmens Mess Cafe as well!

Propeller Club Members can enjoy this event without any admission charge.
