Guest of Honour

102 year-old RAF WW2 Mosquito Pilot Jim Dearlove

We are honoured to welcome Jim Dearlove who, as a 23 year-old RAF pilot flew de Havilland Mosquitos on daring bombing raids to the German capital Berlin, as our Guest of Honour.

The RAF veteran, who still plays golf every week with his three friends (the four have a collective age of 370) has enthusiastically accepted an invitation from the SMGWA charity to appear before an audience of visitors to the show and answer questions about his experiences over the five years he spent in the Royal Air Force.

The opportunities to hear first hand from those who flew in defence of our nation in World War 2 are, sadly, now extremely limited and that is why we are sure there will be a large audience for Jim’s appearance at our event.Jim was a very successful pilot of the de Havilland Mosquito (“a beautiful aircraft; the fastest thing out there”) until April 1945, flying many missions to Berlin.

If you are interested in meeting Jim, please contact us on info@stowmaries.org.uk

Celebrated author Ian Castle will be joining us to give a great talk on the early bombing campaign.

His talk will feature two of our newest acquisitions and their role - all covered with your admission ticket!
