Old soldier Bert, now living in Poplar, East London and working as a Market Trader in Chrisp Street market selling fruit and vegetables. Bert narrates the Great War from start to finish. Talking about the major issues and campaigns. Every family was affected by The Great War, Bert talks about his family and neighbouring family and friends. This story will show a mixture of emotions, with a wry and wily Cockney attitude.
