Grab your helmet and hit the road to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome for the first Stow Maries Motorbike Show on Saturday 16 May – a celebration of freedom on two wheels.
For one day only, the historic World War One aerodrome will be a focal point for bikers from all over Essex and beyond –along with visitors coming to admire their superbly polished machines. From classic wartime workhorses to modern superbikes, every kind of bike will be represented, and if you haven't signed up to show your pride and joy yet, we still have room for a few more!
Whether you like to ride bikes or would simply enjoy admiring these fantastic machines lined up among the Grade II* listed World War One Royal Flying Corps buildings, The Stow Maries Motorbike Show will be a great day out for the whole family.
The Stow Maries Motorbike Show is one of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome's "added value" events, which means you can enjoy all the day's extra activities for the same price as normal Museum entry – £12 for adults, £9 concessions and children 0-10 free.
Whether you're a biker or an admirer there will be plenty to enjoy. We have a variety of trade stalls to browse including bike sales, repairs, accessories and customisations. The Airmen's Mess café will be open throughout the day for classic fried breakfasts, a variety of hot and cold lunch options and cakes and snacks, plus we will have a hearty barbecue on the go. A bar will be provided by local brewery Datum Attitude, including a selection of its small-batch aviation-themed beers.
Ian Flint, Chief Executive Officer of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, comments: "We are looking forward to welcoming a fantastic selection of bikes to the show. We already have a massive collection of classic cars and aircraft visiting the Museum for Wings and Wheels on 24 May, so this is the ideal opportunity for the biking community to have an event all of their own, celebrating the freedom of two wheels."
As well as enjoying the bike show, visitors can also explore the whole Museum, including guided tours around the aircraft hangars running throughout the day and all the indoor exhibition spaces. We can't guarantee that the sun will be shining, but we can promise that the bikes will be gleaming!
