Our New Exhibt Rule Britannia - Women in the Great War, is now OPEN!

Friday 27th July 2018 saw the opening of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome’s third permanent exhibition, Rule Britannia – Women in the Great War.

Mr Whittingdale MP welcomed HM Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst to officially open the exhibition funded by Leader and Essex Heritage Grant awards. They were joined for the celebration by representatives from RCCE, SMGWA board of trustees and the now famous volunteer curatorial team, responsible for the existing, award-winning exhibitions on site

Ian Flint, Chief Executive of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, Said “This exhibition explores the incredible contribution made by women in the Great War and how their activities changed their role in society for ever. It was a fitting tribute to these ladies that the exhibition was co-curated by Dr Viv Newman, historian and author and opened by Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst HM Lord Lieutenant of Essex.”
