A range of models, varying in size from 1m to 2.5m in length, will be displayed throughout the day. Covering early aviation through to the modern day, it is guaranteed to be interesting, inspiring and exciting.
All the pilots will be keen to discuss their creations – as well as this amazing hobby.

Again – no ticket, no entry!

Well behaved dogs on leads at all times, with considerate owners, are welcome.

Escape Room Session: Stop the Zeppelin Raid (10th October 2021)

The perfect exhilarating, exciting, entertaining, team building, escape room experience! It’s an ideal activity for family, friends or for corporate events.

Celebrate a birthday, wedding anniversary or experience something unusual as part of a hen and stag weekend.

It’s the start of the First World War and London is under attack. RFC Stow Maries is perfectly situated to intercept the German Zeppelins coming down the North Sea coast heading for the capital. You have just sixty minutes to scramble your pilots so they can take down these giant bombers.

Your team of 4-6 players must work together to solve a series of puzzles and overcome logistic obstacles to get your planes airborne. Good observational skills, communication and a bit of lateral thinking are essential to complete the mission on time.

Our Stop the Zeppelin Road escape room experience provides a perfect atmosphere for that long overdue get together. Suitable for all ages, all weathers and all abilities and not a mobile phone in sight, we’re sure to make your session one to remember.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people does a session hold?

In order to gain the most from the experience, we recommend a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 6 although we have had 2 people do it on occasions. Regardless of the number of participants the price is costed per session.  The sessions are booked as a group and therefore no-one else will be in the room with you, other than those you invite.

Who is it aimed at?

Family and friends – Geeks and gamers – Corporate team building – School classes and clubs

Pretty much everybody and anybody! The game is meant to be a bit of fun, but of course there is a competitive element to it and many groups are avid Escape Room fans. Due to the degree of difficulties in solving the puzzles, we have found that it most suits 14 year olds and above. However, it isn’t a problem if younger children are part of an older group as with assistance they will still be able to participate and enjoy the experience. We do ask that a parent stays with any groups that is solely made up with under 16 year olds. This is an ideal alternative for celebrating a birthday, hen/stag event or anniversary or simply an excuse to get a gang of friends or family members together to share an experience and a memory.

Can we bring Dogs?

While we welcome well-behaved dogs, on  a fixed lead at all times, with considerate owners, to the Aerodrome,  it is not possible to take your dog into a session, no.

What happens on the day?

Please arrive 15 mins before your start time. Report to Museum reception with your booking receipt. You will be directed to the Pilot’s Ready Room which is a five minute walk from reception.

There you will receive your briefing from the escape room facilitator before entering the escape room itself.

There is plenty of free on site parking but beware that the ground can get wet and muddy on occasions so please wear sensible footwear.

How will I know when the 60 minutes are up?

A clock will be in the room to count you down and a klaxon will sound after exactly 60 minutes.

Do I need to be brainy to take part or do some revision before hand?

No specified level of intelligence or knowledge of aviation or the First World War is required.  Just a sense of fun, a love of playing games and solving mysteries.

Accessibility

The escape room is accessible on a flat surface. Some Wheelchairs may be able to fit through the historic doors – please contact us prior to booking if you have mobility issues.

Is it Covid safe?

Participants are expected to take responsibility for their own safety and therefore we ask please do not attend if you are experiencing any symptoms. We provide hand sanitiser for participants. All surfaces in the room are sanitised between sessions. Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is a Visit England Good-to-Go

Could this be an ideal corporate/team building exercise?

Most certainly. Corporate sessions can be arranged at a date and time convenient to you, please enquire for details. We can also provide add-ons such as refreshments or guided tours of the Museum to increase your experience.

What if we don’t get out?

Oh dear, never mind, we will let you out and you can talk amongst yourselves afterwards and decide whose fault it is!

Do I need to wear anything in particular or bring anything with me?

No special clothing or equipment is required.  You will not be expected to crawl into tunnels or climb ladders.  It is a mental not a physical activity and therefore please feel free to wear exactly what makes you feel comfortable.  Everything you need to escape is inside the room itself.  We ask you not to use your mobile devices and to have them on silent so as not to distract you. Please note that the room is not heated and from  warm clothing is recommended and sensible footwear is worn as the surfaces leading to the escape room are uneven and can be wet and muddy at times.

Am I really locked in the room?

Actually, no –  but we don’t like to ruin the illusion! You are able to exit the room at anytime if –  for example –  you are feeling unwell.  A webcam is in operation throughout your time in the “locked room” so that staff can come in if there is an emergency,  but also for the security and protection of the room and its contents. No material is recorded or viewed by anyone else although for corporate or educational sessions a recording can be made if requested.
