RAeS President visits Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome

On Thursday 9 July, the Trustees of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome (SMGWA) welcomed the President of The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), Martin Broadhurst OBE MA CDir FIoD FRAeS, on a special visit to the aerodrome to meet with Stow Maries representatives and local training providers.

The main objective of the visit and meeting was for the Trustees of SMGWA and the RAeS to explore ways they can work more closely together, particularly:

• To promote STEM training in schools, and to develop SMGWA’s facilities to assist with this

• To support for the launch of an apprenticeship scheme with Colchester Institute

• To look at SMGWA as a centre for a schools’ Build A Plane Competition

• To identify what collaboration SMGWA could have with the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) at Rainham
