The sounds of Stow Maries

20.09.16

Earlier on this year we welcomed Essex Sounds to visit Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome and record the sounds during one of our flying events.

The Essex Sounds website hosts a wide variety of sounds recorded around Essex by sound recordist Stuart Bowditch, plus historic recordings from the Essex Sound and Video Archive. The idea is to compare how the sounds of the county have changed over the last century.

About Essex Sounds

The Essex Sounds website began in 2016 as part of the Heritage Lottery Fund project, You Are Hear: sound and a sense of place. The project is digitising and cataloguing a number of recordings held by the Essex Sound and Video Archive to better preserve them and improve access to them. These files have been hosted online for everyone to enjoy.

To listen to the sounds of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome visit the Essex Sounds website, find us on the map and enjoy the three minute clip.
